It's no secret to many of you that I have been under the weather the last two weeks over some back problems. I've had a rough time with it, partially because of the pain, but mostly because of the issues caused by side effects of the medicine the doctor put me on. I'm still not at 100%, but I know that God will have me there soon.
These events have caused me to think about the Apostle Paul's "thorn in the flesh" and how he prayed three times for God to remove it. For some reason, it seems that God wanted to teach Paul something with the affliction, because God told Paul "my grace is sufficient".
I've often wondered what the affliciton was that Paul had, and I have come to believe that his eyes were still affected by seeing the Lord on the road to Damascus when Paul was struck blind. But the important thing is this: even if God never healed Paul's affliction, God's grace is sufficient enough. His grace is enough to be thankful for.
The Grace of God is His unmerited, or unearned, favor to us. He didn't have to set up a system by which we could be saved; He could've let us die in our transgressions. He could've wiped us out and started completely over. But He didn't.
So I will have faith and believe until my dying day and beyond that God can heal me, but if it never happens, I will always be grateful that He extended His grace and love to me and that I am one of His children.
